HOW SHOULD CARBIDE RODS BE STORED?
Carbide rods are essential precision materials widely used in metal cutting, drilling, and mold manufacturing industries. Boasting ultra-high hardness, wear resistance and structural stability, they require standardized storage methods to avoid surface damage, oxidation and performance degradation, which directly affects subsequent processing accuracy and product service life.
First of all, environment control is the core of proper storage. Carbide rods must be stored in a cool, dry, clean and ventilated indoor space. It is necessary to keep constant room temperature and control relative humidity below 60% to prevent moisture-induced surface oxidation and rust spots. Meanwhile, keep them far away from direct sunlight, high-temperature heat sources and corrosive chemicals, which can erode the carbide surface and damage internal structural stability.
In addition, standardized placement and protection are indispensable. Always store carbide rods in original sealed packaging or professional anti-collision storage boxes with soft partitions. Classify rods by size and specification to avoid friction, collision and edge chipping. Never place heavy items on the top of rod packages. It is also recommended to place storage shelves off the ground to isolate ground moisture and dust. Regular routine inspections can effectively detect damaged products in advance, reducing processing waste and improving production efficiency.
